We are members of the community which we serve.
Our board and staff are formed from persons who are members of the QTBIPOC community, as well as persons who are members of or have close ties and affiliations with the wider 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Formed of a need for reliably funded services for trans and gender diverse communities, The Centre is here to be a sustainable community-focused organization that delivers accessible services to trans individuals at all stages of their journey. Our vision also includes serving other members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community in conjunction with some of our community partners. The Centre is also co-located with a queer-owned pharmacy that is ready to meet the specific needs of trans people.
Our vision is to facilitate streamlined access to trans and gender diverse healthcare in Alberta. The Centre in Edmonton and The Alex in Calgary retain multidisciplinary teams of clinicians and allied professionals including psychiatry, family medicine, endocrinology, uro-gynaecology, gynaecology, psychology (both individual and group offerings), nursing, social work, and peer support.
We are also connected to additional professionals (with an emphasis on primary care) in the community who provide care to the trans population. Using this network, we aim to provide compassionate and easily accessible care while working to de-pathologize gender diversity.
The Centre serves Albertans north of Red Deer,
and The Alex serves Calgary, Red Deer and southern Alberta.
